[BRIEFING]

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What is Mecha Asylum? +

A persistent strategy game in the tradition of the classic browser space empires, with mechs instead of starships. You build up planets and moons, research, roll out mechs and send task forces against other players in one shared universe that keeps running while you're away.

Where can I play? +

In your browser at play.mechaasylum.app. There's nothing to install.

Which languages is it in? +

Fourteen: English, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), French, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). You can switch in Settings.

Is it free? +

Yes. Every building, research line, mech, mission and mini-game is free to play.

Is it pay-to-win? +

No. The Store sells convenience and speed, never power. You can't buy mechs, resources for battle, combat buffs or special attacks, and nothing in the Store changes how a fight plays out.

What does the Store sell, then? +

A Time Saver that makes building and research 25% faster, a Storage Pack that raises every storage cap by half, a Trading Pack that opens the Merchant for resource swaps, an ad-free pass, and a benefits pass that bundles all of them with longer build queues. Each runs for 30 days.

Do I have to be online all the time? +

No. Resources, builds and flights carry on while you're signed out. Your saved defense layout fights attacks for you, and capture campaign missions you don't play resolve on their own. Playing them by hand is the fun part, not a chore.

What happens when someone attacks me while I'm online? +

The attack becomes a live battle on your world's map. You and the attacker each get two minutes to join, and the computer plays any side nobody commands. If you'd rather not, the battle resolves as it would if you were away. The server runs every live battle, so nobody's device decides the result.

Can a much stronger player farm me? +

Players far stronger than you can't attack or scout you while your score is low, and the game flags anyone who keeps hitting you. A Sentry Post also hides a world from enemy recon.

Which faction should I pick? +

The Terran Hegemony builds cheaper and wins long wars with combined arms. The Sovereignty Collective builds fewer, better machines. The Frontier Liberation is fast and lives off salvage. Each also has its own tech tree. You keep the faction you choose, so read the faction dossiers first.

Do I need an alliance? +

You can play alone, but alliances bring joint attacks, joint defense, the war room and alliance wars. Founding one is free.

What if I stop playing for a while? +

Your empire waits for you. Only an empire left untouched for three months is removed, and its worlds become free to claim.

Can I start over? +

Yes. From the Overview you can move to a newer galaxy for free, keeping your homeworld, or start over with a new one.

Is the game finished? +

No. Mecha Asylum is still in development, so art and numbers will change as it's balanced. The patch notes list what changes and when.
